Adding a vital ingredient to the dining experience

Spice Thai Restaurant Interior Design Liverpool Architects

Restaurants are not simply spaces to consume food. Ambience, character and the physical space are important elements in the total experience. Designing a restaurant is about curating the experience and creating a visual synergy with the cuisine and its culture.

Our approach to the design of the Spice Thai restaurant was to avoid the obvious, the standard cliches and the kitsch. The emphasis was on subtle minimalism with warm natural materials and textures – slatted oak decor and terrazzo tiles – providing an informal contemporary feel. The combination of materials reflect a thoughtful fusion of traditional Thai warmth with contemporary design principles.

Juxtaposing the understated design backdrop, we offered a more striking and whimsical design element through the installation of red leaf foliage. The red leaves, set against the restaurant’s otherwise neutral palette, will evoke the fiery flavours of Thai cuisine and create an element of visual drama and distinctiveness. In addition to the indoor dining area, the refurbishment incorporated a new "outdoor" dining and cocktail area with glazed roof. The new space invokes the vibrant energy of the street into the restaurant, enhancing the overall dining atmosphere.
