A new urban living offer in an important gateway site into the historic settlement of Prescot

Prescot Knowlsey Merseyside Liverpool Architects Developers Group D Dye House

This 2.5-acre site gave us the opportunity to create a place with a distinctive identity and ambience, fusing simple modern design with a respect for the area’s heritage and the site’s natural setting beside Prescot Brook. Our vision was for a diverse community with an eclectic mix of 19 houses and 26 cottage-style apartments with generous open space space provision (50% of the site will remain green) and extensive tree planting. The organic blend of built and natural elements suggests a community that has grown or evolved from its setting rather than being imposed or developed.

The design won support from Knowsley Council’s Planning Committee in recognition of its sensitive and inventive response to a key site. In addition to designing the scheme, Dye House is our first development project, being delivered in a partnership between Group/d Developments and Onward Homes. With team members who grew up in the area it’s been great to see the revival of Prescot with the transformational Shakespeare of the North providing a real catalyst for economic and civic renewal. We’re proud that we are being able to contribute to that renaissance.
