This 1940s semi-detached home needed a transformation to suit a young, growing family. Our goal was to create a contemporary extension that enhanced daily living while preserving the character and charm of the original house. We focused on subtlety and harmony to ensure the new brick extension blends seamlessly with the existing structure, using carefully considered materials and detailing to create a sense of continuity between old and new. Every choice was made to respect the home’s heritage while introducing a fresh, modern aesthetic.

A key feature is the south-facing overhang, which softens sunlight, provides shelter, and creates a natural connection between the interior and the garden. The interplay of light and shadow throughout the day adds depth, atmosphere, and a sense of calm to the living spaces. We guided the client through every stage of the project, from initial design concepts and planning approvals to construction and completion.

Close collaboration with the contractor ensured that details – from exposed steelwork to refined finishes – were executed to the highest standard, reflecting Group/d’s commitment to craftsmanship and quality. The result is a home that feels effortless and timeless.

Inside and out, the design balances style, functionality, and comfort, creating a space where a family can grow, entertain, and enjoy life for years to come. The extension not only enhances the living experience but also adds lasting value to the property.
